The ASN has undertaken a variety of tasks and activities since it was first established in 1992. More recent achievements include:

  • membership of over 560 people
  • key organisation for establishing priorities for the HACC funding rounds - continually improving the process for doing this;
  • initiating and undertaking the Discharge planning data collection project;
  • initiating and supporting a community transport project;
  • active participation in HACC demand project, 5 year HACC strategic plan project (NARI) and the RREF review; and
  • coordinating the PAG forum and HACC forum.

The ASN is designed to achieve integrated and coordinated input by aged care services in the Western Metropolitan Region, to relevant planning and decision-making bodies. The ASN aims to effect change in the structure and functioning of the service system to improve service for older people in the west.
