Professional development

What qualifications do I need to be an LLLS instructor?

In accordance with the LLLS Endorsement Scheme Critieria regarding an appropriately qualified instructor...

The basic qualifications for instructing strength training for seniors is Certificate III (Fitness) PLUS the additional unit, 'SRFOLD001B Plan and deliver exercise for older adults'.  Certificate IV (Fitness) with the special populations elective 'Plan and deliver exercise for older adults' is a desirable qualification.

These qualifications comply with National Industry Standards, and are provided by Registered Training Organisations (RTOs).  Providers are located throughout Victoria and include TAFEs, Universities, Council of Adult Education and private training organisations.

COTA is NOT a Registered Training Organisation and does not provide this training.  This course is offered by various TAFEs, Universities, CAE and private training organisations around Victoria (see Kinect Australia's website for a list of training organisations:  www.vicfit.com.au/fitness/DocLib/Pub/DocLibAll.asp
