What qualifications do I need to be an LLLS instructor?
In accordance with the LLLS Endorsement Scheme Critieria regarding an appropriately qualified instructor, the basic qualifications for instructing strength training for older people are Certificate III (Fitness) PLUS the additional competency ’Plan and deliver exercise for older adults’. A Certificate IV (Personal Trainer) that includes the elective ‘Plan and deliver exercise for older adults’ is desirable qualification.
These qualifications comply with National Industry Standards, and are provided by Registered Training Organisations (RTOs). Providers are located throughout Victoria and include TAFEs, Universities, Council of Adult Education and private training organisations.
COTA is NOT a Registered Training Organisation and does not provide this training. This course is offered by various TAFEs, Universities, CAE and private training organisations around Victoria (see Kinect Australia’s website for a list of training organisations:
