010 State Election Manifesto
Age Friendly Victoria – Now is the Time
We are on the cusp of a demographic and societal shift that will impact on our communities for many
decades. Now is the time to act, and to create an age-friendly Victoria that will benefit all members of
our community. COTA’s 2010 Election Manifesto calls on all Political Parties to recognise the urgent
need to address the challenges, and embrace the opportunities, our ageing population brings with it,
by making ageing a policy priority, and committing to action on the key issues impacting on older
Victorians now and into the future.
COTA’s priorities for action over the next term of government are built on three pillars for achieving an
age-friendly Victoria.

Victorian Seniors – Have Their Say on Independence
During COTA’s Have Your Say program in 2008/09 some focus groups and consultation forums were held with older people across Victoria, along with a series of consultations with clients of HACC services. These consultations gathered their views about their lives and their broad service and support requirements. They also discussed the things that need to be in place across a range of community settings to support independence their way. The full report on these consultations can be downloaded here
