Women Working Together – Mentor Training – Day 1

Date: 4 October 2022
Time: 6:00pm - 8:30pm
Location: Zoom - online
Wheelchair access: Yes

Why should I become a Mentor?

Becoming a Mentor will allow you to use your professional skills and lived experience to support other women in your community. We will provide training to build your mentoring skills and expand on your community leadership abilities.

Our Mentor training program will give you the tools and resources you need to coach your mentee on their employment pathway.

We are looking for women who are:

  • Passionate about supporting other women to get back into the workforce
  • Looking to upskill their mentoring skills
  • Willing to participate in approximately 8-10hrs of facilitated mentor training (face-to-face or online)
  • Are available 2-4hrs per month to support your mentee for a minimum of 6 months
  • Willing to train and meet in the North and Western suburbs of Melbourne, Victoria (Including Greater Bendigo, Brimbank, Hume, Maribyrnong, Melton, Moonee Valley, Moreland and Wyndham LGA’s)

Women from Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander backgrounds, migrants and refugees and/or women with a disability are encouraged to apply.

Our marvellous mentors have told us:

  • “I learnt so much in the [mentor] training, I couldn't narrow it down to just one thing that I liked!” Laia age: 58
  • “I was concerned I wouldn't have enough knowledge to be a mentor but today's session helped me consolidate my lived experiences, grow in confidence and know there is a mentor tribe of diversity and experience that will support me. I feel excited about the next steps.” Ann age: 60
  • “I am really impressed with the amount of experience of all the Mentors on the program and how we can leverage this experience as a group to improve outcomes for Mentees”. Marija age: 69
  • “Thanks again for setting us this program – I am confident my mentee and I will learn a lot from each other the next six months.” Linh age: 53
