CEO’s message

What an incredible place we find ourselves in. Writing now from my makeshift home office, I want to reassure you that while we are having to find new ways of working, COTA Victoria will continue to provide services and advocate for Victorians aged 50+.

The community’s highest priority right now must be the health and wellbeing of all Victorians – including older Victorians and people with underlying health conditions. We can protect our community by following prevention advice, by staying home or – when we need to go out – practising physical distancing.

Older Victorians have been specifically asked to remain at home, and with this new physical distance, it’s important to keep up social connections. Keep in touch by email, or social media, or simply by picking up the phone and checking in. Especially in stressful times like these, we can’t underestimate the power of a friendly voice on the phone to help older people stay connected.

If you have any concerns or questions, our telephone Information Line is still open Monday to Friday from 9.30 am to 4.00 pm — call 1300 13 50 90.
