Chris Friday

COTA Victoria volunteers know that small acts can have big impacts.

Meet Chris Friday. A COTA Victoria volunteer for almost 20 years, Chris has been instrumental in supporting COTA Victoria through not one but two office moves. She has been a legend at organising and sorting out our COTA library and ensuring our 71-year history is easily accessible.

‘It’s been a very interesting and enjoyable few years, and I’m pleased that there should now be order rather than chaos in the history of this organisation!’, says Chris.

‘In addition to my work at COTA Victoria, I volunteer at my local U3A by leading historic walks in places of interest. I’ve also been a committee member with U3A and local historical societies.’

‘I enjoy volunteering because it assists organisations in a variety of ways – organisations that would be unable to employ people owing to financial restraints. This is what makes it important. There are so many kinds of volunteering, which means everyone should be able to find a role that’s interesting and meaningful to them.’

But volunteering is not the only thing Chris enjoys: her ultimate getaway is travel. ‘I’ve travelled extensively throughout my life, both here and overseas. I hope to travel overseas again next year, but this year has been my year of domestic travel. I’ve had six interstate trips so far, and I’ve got three more planned. By the end of the year I will have been to all states and capital cities. Road trips, air travel, train travel, outback travel and a cruise in the Kimberley – what more could one ask for?’
