Free exercise classes for all abilities? Yes please!

COTA Victoria is excited to team with Victoria Together to create a library of exercise programs specifically designed for older people of all fitness abilities. Inspired by our Living Longer Living Stronger sessions, we have called these videos the Living Stronger Exercise Series.

We asked Snezana Pezzin, a Living Longer Living Stronger provider for more than ten years, and physiotherapist Lisa Westlake to design these exercise videos to ensure that safety and inclusion are guiding principles in the design.

The series includes videos of various lengths from 20 minutes to 40 minutes and most have a chair option. This is particularly relevant if getting up and down from the floor is challenging. There is no need for fancy equipment either, as most have either no equipment or things that commonly are found in your home.

The videos have been filmed at various locations, but mostly at Lisa Westlake’s beautiful olive farm in Arthurs Seat. While you are following the various exercises, you can hear the birds in the trees and see glimpses of the ducks, geese and dogs. These videos are not only good for your body, they are also a gift to your soul.

Be sure to check out the introductory video first and find all 15 of these beautiful videos here.

But wait, there’s more!

Lisa is also providing live classes via the COTA and Victoria Together Facebook page.
Here’s the weekly timetable for the next month:

  • Monday 9 am – Bench Strength & Stretch (you guessed it – you use your kitchen bench!)
  • Wednesday 5 pm – Unwind (this is a mix of mindfulness, breathing and gentle body stretches)
  • Friday 9 am – Fit & Strong (strength and cardio training that caters for all abilities)
  • Saturday 9 am – Fusion (a mix of tai chi, yoga and flowing movement to music).

We are incredibly proud to bring you these beautiful movement options as part of the live stream workout series.
