We were saddened by the news that Bob Barron passed away in late September. Bob was a COTA Victoria volunteer for almost twenty years. He had a background in engineering geology and was a man of wide interests. In his retirement, he began helping COTA Victoria staff with computer training and updating the website. He went on to become a COTA Victoria Board member, a delegate to the COTA National Policy Council, and chair of the Policy Council. Representing COTA on many external committees, he was a strong advocate for better quality services for older Australians and for reforms to the aged care system. Bob was awarded an honorary life membership of COTA Victoria in recognition of his incredible contribution.
Fellow Board members Lynette Moore and Cathy Mead reminisced about his warmth and inclusivity as well as his patience and good humour.
Board President, Mike Lescai, reflected, ‘Bob’s contribution to older Victorians was significant. We remember his tremendous efforts with thanks and send our condolences to his family.’
