The Victorian Seniors Festival theme for 2021 – keep’n on – recognises the resilience of senior Victorians. Sadly, live events planned for the Melbourne CBD have been cancelled due to ongoing lockdowns and public health concerns. But while we may not be able to get together in person, we can still come together online to share experiences and be inspired.
The organisers have planned a diverse festival of online events and performances. From now to December, there will be more than 60 online performances from remarkable Victorian and Australian performers, creators and makers. Through music and dance performances, radio plays, curated conversations and comedy, the festival will celebrate and share Victoria’s diverse community.
Enjoy the authentic sounds of Gunditjmara singer and songman Dave Arden, the Yeng Gali Mullum Choir and the West African inspired Djoliba Rattler Quartet. Watch performances from Rawcus, a critically acclaimed ensemble of performers with and without disability, and the Performing Older Women’s Circus. And listen in to powerful conversations about cultural, creative and intergenerational experiences.
Take a look at the program of events on the Victorian Seniors Festival website and check regularly for updates and additions. Some local councils are still planning live events, while others have an online program. Contact the Positive Ageing Officer at your local council for more information.
