What are stories of change?
Sometimes it can be difficult to know whether we are making a difference to the lives of older people though our policy advocacy. It is good to step back and look at what we have done and how we can improve. These snapshots give a peek into some of our projects and achievements.
Seven years of elder abuse data in Victoria
Banding together to campaign for assistive technology for all
Empowering older people to shape the debate on aged care

What we have learned from stories of change?
- COTA Victoria boasts a strong network of external partners and allies. However, our engagement with older people in policy development could be stronger. This is important to ensure we speak with an authentic voice.
- When we stand back, we can see the interrelationship between projects. Contacts built through one project can assist us in another and create a ripple effect.
- We have expertise and provide leadership on a wide variety of issues with the underlying theme of ageing and ageism. This can be both a strength and a weakness as we need to determine which issues we should focus on so that our efforts are not too thinly spread.
- We are proud of our commitment to accessibility and diversity while recognising that more needs to be done to put this into effect.
